Hyperscale Data Boosts Michigan Mining: 1,000 New Antminer S21+ Units Headed to Facility

Hyperscale Data (ticker: GPUS) has revealed a bold upgrade plan for its Michigan facility: it’s ordering 1,000 new Bitmain Antminer S21+ machines to replace older, less efficient miners. The company expects to roll out the units starting October 13 in phased deployments of about 4 MW each, minimizing disruption to ongoing operations. Over time, the upgrade is expected to cover around 20 MW of capacity, translating to roughly 5,000 S21+ units in total at the Michigan site.

What’s notable is the performance leap: each S21+ reportedly delivers up to 235 TH/s, representing approximately a 135% increase versus the older S19J Pro machines currently in use. That boost in throughput and efficiency gives Hyperscale Data considerable leverage—if power and cooling infrastructure hold up—to increase mining output without proportionally raising energy costs.  Moreover, the company emphasizes it will continue to operate its AI data center in tandem with crypto mining, leveraging shared infrastructure to maximize utilization.

Beyond the upgrade, Hyperscale Data also reaffirms its treasury strategy: all Bitcoin earned via mining will be held on its balance sheet, and additional Bitcoin will be acquired in open markets toward a $100 million BTC treasury target.  As the company executes this modernization, the key metrics to watch will include realized hashrate, energy cost per TH, uptime during integration phases, and how well the dual AI + mining model scales.
